  • Drink Enough Water

Why it matters: Being a mom can also mean forgetting about your personal needs. Which is why it matters to drink enough water. Your body needs water to feel good and have energy. Tea or coffee is great, but it’s not enough on its own. Water helps you stay awake, feel less tired, and keeps everything in your body working right.

What to do: Try to drink about 8 glasses of water each day - it is a popular number but make sure you drink enough to stay hydrated. Listen to your body needs. Additionally, you can make it fun by using a water bottle you like or adding lemon, mint, or cucumber to your water.  Try this Tip: Drink one glass as soon as you wake up—before you check your pho

  • Get Your Body Moving – Even for 10 Minutes

Why it matters: Moving your body can help a lot, especially if you do not get enough chances to move. Consciously deciding to move about even for a few minutes can help you feel happier, less stressed, and more in control.

What to do: Don’t make it complicated. Dance in your kitchen, go for a quick walk with the stroller, or stretch in your pajamas. Doing a little every day is better than trying to be perfect.

  • Eat Something Colorful and Fresh

Why it matters: Eating healthy food is important for moms and eating something fresh comes in this category. Healthy food gives your body and brain the energy they need. Avoid eating leftovers or packaged food. Try making something fresh like fruits or immediately made like a sandwich.

What to do: Try to add at least one fruit or veggie to each meal. Easy ideas: baby carrots, apple slices, or a handful of spinach in your smoothie. Your body will feel better!
  • Take Deep Breaths on Purpose

Why it matters: Make sure to take deep breaths on purpose as it can help you feel calm, less stressed, and more focused, even when the house feels like chaos. It is something you can do whenever you feel like taking a moment for yourself. Do it regularly during the day and see the difference it can make.

What to do: Try this: Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold it for 7, and breathe out for 8. Use this before a tough moment and you will feel the difference.

5. Give Yourself 5 Minutes

Why it matters: Being a mom is a 24/7 thing and you cannot take a break from it. But, you can take a little time just for yourself every day. Even a five minute break can work wonders for moms. You can sit for a moment, close your eyes and take deep breaths.

What to do: Take 5 minutes to read, write in a journal, scroll through funny memes, or lie on your bed doing nothing. You don’t have to “do” anything—just enjoy the break.

 6. Smile, Laugh, or Text a Friend

Why it matters: Talking to someone or sharing a laugh can really lift your mood. It can help  you feel lighter, happier, and less stressed. You deserve moments of real joy and a good laugh can make everything feel better, even on tough days.

What to do: Text a friend, watch a funny video, or think of a silly memory. Even better, share that moment with your kids or partner.

7. Say “No” Without Guilt

Why it matters: Your time and energy are valuable. Saying “no” helps protect your peace. Your time and energy are important, and you shouldn’t give them away too easily. Saying “no” is not rude—it’s a way to care for yourself. It helps you avoid stress, focus on what truly matters, and keep your mind calm.

What to do: Say no to one thing today—a playdate, an event, or even a group chat. You don’t have to explain. Just know it’s okay to put yourself first sometimes.

8. Do One Thing That Feels Like You

Why it matters: Being a mom is a big and special part of your life, but it’s not the only part. You are also a person with dreams, feelings, and needs. It’s okay to take time for yourself. You are more than just a mom—you are a whole, unique, and amazing person.
